Massive Springsteen vibes with that song. A Springsteen song that hit and held me in a grieving season was 'Moonlight Motel' from the Western Stars album. I think it's the 'Bills and kids and kids and bills' line that works so well. The having to get on with life and all the ordinary time with this big hole inside you.

Yeah, I love Springsteen's work, but it is such a vast body of music, that I know some albums better than others. Now that you mention it, I can definitely hear the Springsteen vibes in this song. Wilson's gravelly voice also reminds me of another of my favorites, Matthew Ryan. Do you know his work? He has a decent following here in the US, but definitely not the acclaim of a Springsteen.

I've not ever heard of Matthew Ryan, but that might be my frame of reference as whether he has a UK following.

I lost a son, husband, and brother all within six months last year. One song that brings me to tears is "Last thing on my mind." No matter how hard we try, we could always have loved better. And we can, with the living.

"Changed for Good," from Witches, is another great one.

Thank you for this song- which allowed me to surface tears that have been building as I approach the anniversary of my brother's death. Hymns of faith are among those that sustain me - Abide With Me is one of them - but there are more popular songs like this one that touch the heart as well.
